Delta Police Rescue Four Kidnap Victims, Arrest Cultist, Recover Firearms

ASABA, Delta State – February 5, 2026 – The Delta State Police Command announced the rescue of four kidnapped persons and the arrest of a suspected cultist in two separate operations over the past week.

In the first incident, police responded to a distress call on the evening of February 2nd after five armed men blocked the Ewu-Ajekuta Road and abducted the occupants of a Toyota Sienna.

According to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe on Thursday, operatives from the Otu-Jeremi division, alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes, pursued the kidnappers. The coordinated effort led to the successful rescue of all four victims, who were taken to a hospital for medical care. Two expended 7.5mm ammunition shells were recovered at the scene. A manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.

In a second, unrelated operation on February 3rd, police raided a suspected cult gathering at Anioma Garden in Ibusa. One suspect, identified as Michael Ayauze, was arrested. Police say preliminary investigation reveals he is a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.

A search of the suspect yielded one English Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, and assorted charms. Other suspects at the scene reportedly fled and remain at large.

The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Aina Adesola, reiterated the command’s resolve to combat kidnapping, cultism, and violent crime. The public is urged to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to security agencies.
