Okowa Backs Tinubu’s Reforms, Hails Oborevwori’s Project Boom at Uromi Flyover Groundbreaking

Former Governor of Delta State and Senator representing Delta North, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is boldly steering Nigeria toward a more stable and sustainable economic future, insisting that the pains of ongoing reforms are necessary and already yielding results.

Okowa spoke on Monday in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, at the groundbreaking ceremony of the N59 billion Uromi Junction Flyover, performed by Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

The immediate past governor said he rarely attends project flag-offs or commissioning ceremonies after leaving office, but explained that the Agbor project moved him to be present.

“I bless God for what I am seeing here today. What is happening in Delta State gives me peace, and that peace is because Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is a good man who continues to do the right thing,” Okowa said.

He commended Oborevwori for sustaining trust, maintaining cordial relationships, and translating plans into visible projects across the state, noting that the scope and spread of infrastructure development clearly reflect purposeful governance.

Describing the Uromi Junction Flyover as monumental, Okowa said it was only one of several major projects underway in Delta North. He cited the Ugbolu–Okpanam Road, valued at about N30 billion, and the Aboh–Akara concrete road project as further proof of the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

“Deltans should celebrate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. He has a huge basket of projects, many of which have moved from conception to reality,” he said.

Okowa added that the peace he enjoys as a former governor is rooted in Oborevwori’s leadership style, sincerity, and commitment to continuity.

“When the vision was born in 2021, some thought I was joking. When it started manifesting in 2022, others thought I was crazy. But today, Governor Oborevwori is proving God right,” he said.

On national issues, Okowa urged Nigerians to objectively assess President Tinubu’s economic reforms, stressing that they are already making a difference.

“People may choose not to acknowledge it, but Mr President is engineering the Nigerian economy in the right direction,” he said, noting that states and local governments are now paying salaries more regularly and clearing pension and gratuity backlogs.

He attributed these improvements to the federal government’s economic policies and praised Oborevwori for aligning Delta State with the centre, describing the move as bold, strategic, and beneficial.

“Politics aside, Mr President is leading Nigeria towards a more sustainable future. There may be initial pain, but the results will be evident in a few years,” Okowa said.

He concluded by praying for continued wisdom, strength, and good health for Governor Oborevwori, expressing optimism about the future of Delta State, Ika Nation, and Nigeria.

“It is well with Nigeria. It is well with Delta State. It is well with Ika Nation,” he declared.
