Obi Reaffirms 2027 Ambition, Says He Has Experience to Fix Nigeria

Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has again declared that he is the most prepared aspirant to lead Nigeria in 2027, insisting his background in business and finance sets him apart from other contenders.

Speaking during an X Space discussion on Monday, December 29, 2025 the former Anambra State governor said he had built his business “from scratch” and gained practical experience managing finances and growing enterprises — experience he believes is vital for Nigeria’s recovery.

Obi argued that reviving the economy would significantly reduce insecurity, noting that both challenges are closely linked. He pledged major support for small businesses and local manufacturers, describing them as the “engine room” of national development.

Addressing speculation that he planned to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a running mate in a broader coalition, Obi dismissed the claims, declaring, “I will be on the ballot in 2027.”

He also urged his supporters to remain calm, avoid insults, and engage opponents peacefully and with facts. According to him, politics should be about putting the right leaders in place, not confrontation.

“We can’t solve Nigeria’s problems by bullying,” Obi said, adding that coalitions should be approached with open minds and a commitment to national interest.
