Influencer Debunks AI Claim as Oshiomhole Video Sparks Online Storm

South African lifestyle influencer and adult content creator, Leshaan Dagama, has rejected claims that a viral video circulating online was artificially generated, contradicting statements issued by aides of former Edo State governor and current senator, Adams Oshiomhole.

The video, which began trending on social media on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 shows a man who resembles Oshiomhole seated with a woman, engaging in a light-hearted exchange while massaging her feet as they rested on his lap. The clip quickly attracted widespread attention and commentary across digital platforms.

The woman in the footage was initially misidentified on social media as Lara Fortes, the wife of the senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, a claim that has not been substantiated.

Several online users alleged that the video was first shared on TikTok by Dagama before it was deleted shortly afterwards. The footage triggered mixed reactions, with some Nigerians criticising what they described as a display of personal comfort amid prevailing economic hardship.

Others linked the clip to Oshiomhole’s recent public remarks suggesting that some Nigerians were complaining that food prices had become “too cheap,” using the video as a basis for satire and criticism.

In response, Oshiomhole’s media aide, Oseni Momodu, issued a statement denying the incident, describing the footage as a “poorly crafted AI-generated” video and condemning its circulation. The statement accused online platforms of spreading unverified content and engaging in cyberbullying.

The aide also disclosed that efforts were underway to identify those responsible for producing and sharing the video, while urging the public to verify information before making allegations against public officials.

Dagama, however, challenged the AI-generation claim in a post on her Instagram story, stating sarcastically, “Video wasn’t AI but okay believe your senator,” accompanied by a smiling emoji. In an earlier post, she had urged critics to direct their anger at the senator rather than at her.

As of the time of filing this report, the authenticity of the video remains contested, with no independent verification publicly presented by either party.
